VACATION OR STAYCATION?
Let the fun officially begin because everyone knows summer is absolutely the best season! School is out, vacations begin, beaches, mountains, Father’s Day, pool parties, summer birthdays, outdoor grilling , backyard gatherings, fire pits, camping, and everything fun.
Leave your everyday world behind with a vacation to a new climate, new scenery and new routines! Take a break from work, chores and responsibilities by visiting a different place from home. Explore it. Enjoy it.
Let people serve you at a resort as you relax by the pool. Or hike new trails in the cool mountains. Maybe experiencing new foods in a new country sounds exciting. Some people adore exploring cities, attending shows, staying in a nice hotel and trying new restaurants. But to others, sitting by a campfire at a campground is the best vacation. You can take your pet, cook simple meals over the fire, listen to your own music and generally relax without any schedule at all.

Of course, travel time takes a chunk out of your vacation away – a day to and a day from. And travel can be stressful, whether by plane or driving a good distance with children. And there is the planning time, reservations and packing ahead of time, and don’t forget the money cost, which always seems to end up more than you planned. But many feel the new experience away from home is worth it all if you truly want to get away.
Do you want to create a beautiful yard? First, you can keep your lawn pristine with the right lawn mower. Mowers aren’t cheap and you want to buy and maintain the correct one for your specific needs.
40% Off in June
Staycations mean staying at or near home and they have great benefits. Number one is they are cheaper of course. You could spend the money you would have spent on a travelling vacation to buy something you’ll enjoy at home. This may be a good time to mention Longenecker’s patio sets are on sale at 40% off during June. And we have a lot of fun games like Lawn Darts, Corn Hole and many activities and crafts for children.
With a staycation, you don’t have to take a lot of time planning every single detail. You don’t have to disrupt your pets or household, but just exchange some or all that work for fun. You could even hire a cleaning service as a treat to yourself to make your staycation at home more enjoyable.
Staycations don’t have to be boring. You can plan on doing something different at home or near home. And if the weather turns stormy, you can easily change your plans because you can be more spontaneous.
So, what to do on a staycation: How about taking that yoga class you’ve been wanting to try? Or try paddle boarding or kayaking on a nearby lake? Or having a party or big backyard BBQ and inviting friends and family you’d like to catch up with? Any summer birthdays in the family? That’s a party right there. You don’t have to work hard at it. Hire a caterer, or BBQ guy, or make it potluck. Rent games and equipment like snow cone machines, cotton candy machines, or a dunk tank. (see https://longeneckers.com/rentals/party-rentals/).
A great idea is to visit a few places you’ve not visited before but are close by. Anywhere from a new ice cream shop, a sporting event, water park, or plan day trips to a museum, nearby city, a winery, an outdoor concert, or heritage site. Or splurge a little for a weekend or overnight stay in a nearby area to explore and take in new surroundings.
One benefit to a staycation is it supports your local economy. Staying closer to home means you can spend time and money at local attractions, cafe’s, bars and restaurants and support local business owners.
Whichever you choose this summer (or maybe you’ll be lucky and do both!), vacation or staycation, you will benefit from some time off and break from your normal routine, which is absolutely essential to keeping healthy, happy and rested.
